Tonight I'm loving...

Shoes with, um, wood in them? Yes, that will be my eloquent start to this post.

(The first pink ones are from Topshop, not sure about the rest, sorry.)

Next, turquoise:
(Maybe these shoes are more sky blue, but whatever, they're so awesome.)

Yeah, a lot of bags in that color. I know the first one can be found on Amazon for about 30 bucks.
Also, this is my cousin's favorite color, and she has a great turquoise nail polish that I covet. It's such a great color for summer.

I'm also loving sparkly things:

(I know the clutch was on Etsy; everything else, I have no idea, but I do know it doesn't matter because they're all in the $3500 price range.) (And yes, obviously I am still wallowing in envy over the dress Emily Haines from Metric wore in this video, and how great she managed to look in it.)

And finally, cute baby animals:
(okay, not fashion related... but just as much fun to look at!)

You're welcome.

What I Wore: Yesterday and Today

I have two outfits to put on here tonight. The first I wore the other day when it was a lot cooler. I've been wanting to try out the recent trend of combining stripes with florals, and also wanted to wear this blazer my sister just gave me. You can't see the details of the stripes that well in the pictures, sorry; but the jacket is white with pink or light red stripes. This is the best my sister could do with the crappy camera we had on hand:

Also, I thought I'd show off my new shoes and bag:
The shoes are the ones I mentioned ordering from Target, and the bag I just got from Kohl's. It was marked down from $50 to $20, and I ended up getting it for $16 because it had a small black mark on it. Haggling for the win! I love both additions to my wardrobe sooo much. They go great together, and will be perfect for both summer and fall. And the bag was really necessary. My main one was falling apart, and this one is sturdy and roomy. It's a nice change.

Now here's what I wore today--something a lot cooler, since it was in the 90's.
My only accessories for this were a pair of aviators and red nail polish.

And, of course, my strappy Vera Wang heels.

I love how the skirt makes a "V" in the back.
And the fact that it has black netting underneath.

Maybe a little 90's, but whatever; I hear it's making a comeback lately. And, well, the skirt is from the 90's. I actually took it from a dress that my little sister didn't want anymore, cut off the top of it (which I couldn't squeeze into, now that I have boobs; it was pretty horrible anyway, with very poofy sleeves) and viola, a new pretty skirt. I love it very much and plan on wearing a million times this summer.

Actually, here's two pictures of my sisters modelling the top half of what was formerly a dress. Awful sleeves, right?
Kaits and I have decided we'll be going out in public together dressed like this.

Sorry for the crappy in-door shots. I'll try and do some of the next ones outside, and hopefully they'll be better quality. I'll also get better detail shots, especially of my new bag and shoes. Sadly, I don't think I'll feel like wearing anything other than a tank top and cutoffs until this weather cools down a bit.

Comfort movie

Today, I'm not feeling well and am staying in bed, and therefore have popped in what my boyfriend likes to call my version of "cinematic sweatpants": You've Got Mail. I've always loved this movie, and so does my mom. It has Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan at their most adorable, charming pairing, paints a very pretty picture of New York throughout the seasons, and is very lighthearted. Perfect for a day like today. Anyway, here's a little fashion advice from Meg Ryan's character in the movie which I've found to be completely, terribly true: which is, that almost all hat purchases turn out to be a mistake. So sad, but she's totally right. They do.

Nevertheless I am still determined to find the perfect summer hat. Help? And what's your favorite comfort movie?

What I Wore

Okay, remember in my last "What I Wore" post I had on the trench coat and the pearls and the flower and the oversized shirt and it was all too much for going to my boyfriend's house and I needed to wear something more normal? Right, well, this is what I came up with.

And here's two pictures that my sister Kaila tried to ruin but FAILED because they're totally awesome anyway.

(In that last one I was attempting to show off my nails and bangles, which didn't work out so well. But whatever, you'd be giving all your attention to the nut face behind my shoulder anyway.)

Cardigan: stole from my sister
Shirt: Thrifted
Skirt: Thrifted
Messenger bag: H&M
Knee socks: made 'em myself from an old pair of stockings that didn't fit.
Jewelry: stole from my sister
Oxford heels: Vintage

So basically, the only things in this outfit that I actually paid money for were the bag and shoes. Even the thrifted things I got for free. So I guess they're more like hand-me-downs, really. From strangers. Weird.

The World's Ugliest Shoes

And they're $195, people. Behold:
I think my boyfriend summed it up nicely: "Yikes. Just... yikes." True, he does have a really intense, odd dislike for denim (he doesn't even wear jeans!) but still, I think we can all agree that his disgust is well-deserved here.

And no, I'm not telling you where they're from, just in case some crazy urge to buy them possesses you. Inconceivable, really. But still. Just in case.

....Yikes.

Cute shirt

I was browsing shirts (and dresses and shoes and accessories and bags) on Polyvore today, and came across this one. 30 pounds on a site called bigfluff.com, if you're interested. I wouldn't actually pay money for this, but it made me laugh because it's horribly, horribly true. Thank god I'm going for a real haircut tomorrow, because it's getting to the point where I tend to go crazy and start snipping at it myself.

What I Wore Today, AGAIN

Wow, I really wasn't kidding when I said I'd be doing these posts more often, huh? I wasn't planning to do one today, but I'm seeing my boyfriend later on and am currently stuck alone in the house for a few hours. Everyone's at school or work. So I have nothing to do but eat lots of cookies, paint and re-paint my nails (I probably have a good half inch of nail polish on them now) and of course, play dress up.

I really like this outfit that I came up with, although I don't think I'll be wearing it out anytime soon, and certainly not to my boyfriend's house. His family probably thinks I'm crazy enough already. I guess I'll have to come up with another outfit later; and, of course, I'll let you know how it goes.

Oh, and also, remember what I said about the joys of having someone else to snap pictures for me, instead of having to do the mad dash from the computer to pose? Yeah, that's gone today. I'm the only one home, so once again, I had to rely on my webcam and my dash-and-pose skills. Sorry for some of the awkward poses. Luckily there was some really nice lighting.
Anyway, enjoy:

So yeah, this outfit was the complete opposite of yesterday's. Well, I wore the H&M trench again, but yesterday's was more punky and casual, while today's is a little more girly. The giant white button-up shirt and the trench subtract from that, while the pearls and flowery hairclip definitely scream "FEMININE." All together, I think it's a nice balance. What do you think? And what am I going to wear for real today? Agh.

Jacket--H&M
White button up--My dad's closet. No lie. Yes, I am deeply ashamed.
Blue skirt that is actually a dress--ModCloth
Pearls and hairclip--My sister's
Shoes--Vera Wang from Kohl's

What I Wore Today

Today was a pretty chilly day for May, so I was happy that I'd decided to keep most of my pants and H&M jacket out of the winter clothes bag. I was going to church with the family and then to my grandparents' lake cottage, so it was a pretty casual day. Note: sometimes I dress up a bit more nicely for church, if I feel like it, but obviously I didn't today.

Here's me with a grumpy expression because I was freezing my butt off:
Notice the change of scenery? That's because I'm finally home for summer break. So now I have my sister (or whoever else happens to be around) taking my pictures for me outside--much prettier than a dorm room, I think you'll agree.

Check out the awesome socks from Modcloth:
Normally I wouldn't pay, like, 7 bucks for socks, but I loved the bright blue and cherry tones. Plus I'm sorta used to Modcloth's ridiculous prices.

Notice the huge earrings? I couldn't wear them all day because they were so heavy. You can't really tell, but the red went great with my jeans and nail polish. Um, and socks, haha.

See? There was definitely a red theme in this outfit (and I'm currently loving this color on my nails):
The ring's from ModCloth too. I lost it at the boyfriend's a while ago without realizing it and just got it back.
Not sure about this last one... I guess my experienced photographer decided we needed an extreme outfit closeup. I deleted the extreme closeup of my open mouth but I figured I'd post this one.

Hope you enjoyed today's outfit! I'm planning to do this more regularly from now on--it's all part of my quest to "discover my style" and I'll have more time now that classes are over-- so I hope you enjoy these outfit posts. If not, why are you here? This is a fashion blog, you know.
