Harlem Pants and Karl Lagerfeld Tea Bags

Please follow this chart any time you are in doubt. (Although a good rule of thumb is to never wear harlem pants no matter what.)

Also, I really would like to have Karl Lagerfeld floating around in my tea but at 12 bucks for five teabags, it doesn't seem like that will be a reality for me. Sad.

The End of Summer

... is actually a good thing. No, really! Check out this article on College Candy to see why! (I totally agree with all of them. Well, except for the football thing.)

If I were to add some of my own reasons to the list, a few would be:
  • More things to do. Sure, it's nice to have a relaxing summer break when you don't have to get up till noon and your only plans for the day are lying out in the sun and reading magazines. But after four months of that, it gets boring. I'm ready for classes and work and clubs and hanging out with friends. I like having a full schedule.
  • Fall leaves. It's gorgeous and you can jump in them, 'nuff said.
  • Fall has the yummiest foods. Pumpkin bread, pies, tea, muffins, and all the heavy, warm things you couldn't bear to eat during the summer.
  • Riding my bike around campus. I get there faster and look cute while doing it!
  • Fall has the best holidays. No matter how old I get, I will always love Halloween: the costumes, the candy, my younger siblings' excitement... And Thanksgiving with my family has amazing food and the biggest game of Spoons ever--everybody plays, even my grandmother. It gets wild!
  • And, of course, fall fashion. Scarves, cardigans, boots, tights, blazers, leather jackets... I'm so excited.
What about you? Are you looking forward to fall, or mourning the end of the summer?

Movies

My pathetically tiny (compared to my boyfriend's) DVD collection:

(In case you can't make them all out: The Darjeeling Limited, The Importance of Being Ernest, Where the Wild Things Are, Silver Streak, Match Point, Casablanca, Rachel Getting Married, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, Thank You for Smoking, The Wild Thornberrys Movie, and No Country for Old Men. Eclectic, I know.)

Also included but not shown: Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Once, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and You've Got Mail.

A few that I'm planning to buy soon: Kontroll, Let the Right One In, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, Annie Hall, Inception, Toy Story 3, Breathless, The Wind in the Willows, and Pan's Labyrinth.

How about you? Favorite movies? Leave it in the comments!

Bucket List

Do you have a bucket list--a list of all the exciting things you want to do before you die? I love making lists, so of course I do. It's constantly changing, naturally, as I check things off and add others. Here's what it looks like right now (mostly; I took out a few personal/embarrassing ones, haha):

  • graduate college—with no debt
  • go skydiving
  • set up a home theatre in the backyard
  • go to the beach in my fanciest clothes
  • publish a book
  • travel out of the States (particularly to France)
  • go to a cat cafe in Japan
  • road trip to California
  • live in NYC
  • go to a rock concert

and then I'll crowd-surf like this.
  • learn to sew
  • get a pet

awwww

AWWWWWWW
  • go on a boat
  • learn to drive a motorcycle (or even a vespa will do)
Yeah, in a SKIRT.

This'll be me, going "whooo!" before I crash into a tree.

  • learn to ride a horse
  • sell one of my artworks
  • swim in the Washington Square Park fountain

or rather, frolic around in it half-naked.

  • be shot by the Sartorialist (hey, a girl can dream!)
  • get really completely drunk
  • take a life drawing class. maybe model for one.

in case you didn't know: life drawing = butt naked time. scary!
  • switch to a Mac
  • get an iphone
  • get a really nice camera

or maybe a whole collection... :)
  • try a dragon fruit

they really look too gorgeous to eat. hoping they taste just as good as they look.
  • run a 5k
  • go on a train trip

  • write a screenplay. (hey, I suppose the picture above works for this one too.)
  • plan a wedding (not my own though, haha).

  • write/direct/act in a play
  • throw a really fancy dinner party in my own apartment

Mad Men style. Hell yes.

  • visit the Winchester Mystery House in CA
  • ride in a hot air balloon

Or.... I mean, I'm just saying, this would be even cooler. How do we make this happen?

  • get a tutu and a pair of vintage roller skates, and go everywhere with them

...and then crash into everything all day long.

  • visit a nude beach... this one is a maybe, haha.

I have a feeling that most people at a nude beach don't look like this.

I hope two of those in a row wasn't too overwhelming for you.

  • get a tattoo; and this one is a really really BIG maybe.

it'd have to be about as small and cool as these.

  • dye my hair white-blonde.

Cause she looks so good with it...

And there you have it! If you have a list of your own, what are some of the things on it? Would you do (or have you already done) any of the things I listed? Share in the comments!

Fall Fashion Inspiration

Alright, here's a very picture-heavy post, featuring two of my favorite things: fall fashion and street style. If you enjoy these things too, or if you're also looking for some inspiration for the fall, look no further. Enjoy!

No. 1 inspiration: plaid. I love how this girl wears it (and her chic haircut!) I don't know if I could pull off those ultra tight leggings or the painful-looking shoes, but I love the contrast between casual and fierce.

Here's some more plaid, as well as the ever chic black tights and adorable booties:

I love this model's entire look. I want her hair and red lips, not to mention her entire outfit. So, gotta find me: a graphic tee, a cool statement necklace, the perfect black blazer, cropped pants, amazing shoes, and a structured bag. Oh boy...

I really like the current trend of army green military jackets... Okay, probably just because I happen to own one that I got at H&M years ago. I always feel ridiculously cool when I wear it, though not as cool as this girl:
Love the boots and the bangs, too. It's a shame bangs don't work for me.

Another example of the military jacket. I like the idea of pairing it with a girly white dress and grey leggings. Also: rolling up the sleeves can have amazing results.

I love how adorable this girl is (the hair! the glasses! the lipstick!) but most of all I love the pop of yellow:
Again with those crazy leggings though!

I have yet to try an all-black outfit. I doubt it will look as effortlessly cool as this:

I love that the back of her sweater is sheer. Need one of those, NOW.
Also, how great is her smile?

Loving the leather and the pop of mustard:

Again with a perfect pop of mustard among black and leather. I love that. Obviously.

I love this girl's chunky, comfy grey sweater, and her boots:

This girl knows she's awesome:

This is so Parisian chic to me:

I want the dress, the tights, and I really need a pair of T-straps. The list (and greed) just keeps growing...

The Sartorialist just captured this one. Isn't her look so 70's, but at the same time, fresh? Also: her legs go on for miles.

This is sweet and adorable:

This picture just says "fall" to me:

Classic, understated, easy. Plus, I love the top knot and velvet blazer:

For those warmer fall days:

And there you have it! If you need to take a nap after plowing through all that, go ahead. You earned it. I think I'm going to take one too...

Quick Update

I realize I haven't written anything here for a while, probably not since August. I also realize that probably no one has been devastated by that, so therefore I haven't felt too guilty or rushed to get back to it. I guess I just needed a little break. Plus, a lot of things happened in the last four or five weeks. I failed my driver's test, I moved back to college for my junior year and started classes and work study at the campus library, I almost had to have surgery on my foot (nothing serious though), and so on. So things have been hectic.

Another thing is that I'm considering tweaking the content of my blog. There's still going to be a lot of fashion, don't worry; but now I'm thinking about including other things too. Sometimes I just want a place to write about funny things that happened to me during the day, or to share music and things I found on the Internet, and so on. Hopefully those things will be interesting and fun to read. There'll still be outfit pictures (I took two last week, they're not great quality but I might post them later anyway) and of course, tons of entries about things that I want.

So I'll be back with more posts soon, and in the meantime, if you haven't yet, check out some of these blogs that have inspired me: A Cup of Jo, Hyperbole and a Half (just found this and it's hilarious), Gala Darling, Yes and Yes, Daddy Likey (currently taking a break--sad!), and Kendi Everyday. (Sorry I didn't include links, I'm too lazy and you have Google.) A good mix of fashion, humor, fun links and funny pictures, and helpful advice for pretty much everything. Enjoy!
